- 38,810 AIDS cases were reported by December 31, 1998 - up 1,843 cases from 1997. This accounts for 35% of the total number of statewide AIDS cases (110,120) and 6& of national AIDS Cases. L.A. is currently second only to New York City in reported AIDS cases

- In L.A. County, gay and bisexual men account for:
- 65% of all reported Caucasion AIDS cases

- The incidence of AIDS cases in Los Angeles County is highest in Hollywood where many people living with advanced HIV disease account for 25% of the County's total. Many of these people access support services provided by the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center, located in the heart of Hollywood.
